Project: Virtual Newspaper

For this course, you will use a webtool to create a virtual newspaper to share what you learn about elections. You'll create your newspaper with a presentation program called Emaze.

View this sample newspaper. Most modules of this course have a project at the end instructing you to create a slides to share what you've learned. Each of those slides will be like a section of a newspaper. Click the arrows on the side of this presentation to see the sorts of things you will be creating throughout the All About Elections Online Unit Study.

Now you need to save the template for your virtual newspaper. Follow these steps..

  1. Click HERE to register with Emaze.
  2. On your Presentations page, click "New"
  3. Select "Presentation".
  4. Find and select the template called "Breaking News".
  5. Click the setting icon and choose which style you want.
  6. Save your newspaper.
  7. Rename your newspaper.

Now, edit the cover slide with a headline and image.

Change the headline in the cover slide. Play around with the text options to get the look you want.

Find an image about elections and replace the stock image already there.

  1. Open Google Images
  2. Search for "elections", "vote" or another elections-related term
  3. Find an image you like, right click and select "save as". Designate a folder and save.
  4. Click on the image in your newspaper. Select the "change image" icon and upload your image to the presentation.

If you want, consider what you learned in this first lesson and replace the text with a paragraph or two about elections.
