Time Travel Journal created with Emaze

Imagine that you have a time machine and can travel back to any time in history. What things would you experience? Who would you meet? What would you do? And how would you share your adventure with others. Historically, people have recorded their life in journals, and that's a big source of information about the past.

A Time Travel journal is a great way to share what you learn about a historical time period. You write it from your point of view as you imagine yourself visiting that point in history.

This video shares how to create a Time Travel Journal using a webtool called Emaze.

UPDATE: At 1:07, I instruct you to select "Visual Story" to find the "Family Photos" template. That is no longer an option. But you will be able to find the template by selecting "Presentations" (instead of "Visual Story").

Get Started ...

CLICK HERE to register/login at Emaze. You must be 13 to register, so if you're younger, sign up for a family account and use with your parents' permission.

Before you start designing, brainstorm what information you will include in each journal entry. Maybe one day you write about "visiting" a certain place. Another day you write about everyday life. Another journal entry might highlight a monumental event (like the start of a war).

Write drafts for each day using Grammarly. Then you will be able to copy and paste them into your Time Travel Journal.

Other ways to use this project:

  • Create a scrapbook of a family trip
  • Write a journal from the point of view of a character in a book you are reading
  • Create a nature journal. Upload images of things you discover on nature walks or drawings of your finds. Add some text with details about your discoveries.
  • Browse other Emaze templates and be inspired!

How do you envision using this project for your family's homeschooling? Share your ideas in the comments to inspire others.
